Justice League Dark: Apokolips War - My Reactions

Movie Poster Justice League Dark - Apokolips War

Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, is not for faint-hearted DC fans. I am a fan, not as invested but still it took me a while to recover from it. The War in this rated R DC animated movie ends the Justice League we know and love.

This is my almost non-spoilery reaction, or my thoughts, but by no mean it is a review.
While I disagree with the ending, this movie is probably the best DC animated movie. I love their animated movies far more than the sorry excuses they prepared for cinemas, excluded a couple of good ones here and there.

During the movie, you would feel if DC haters wrote this movie. You will not be ready for this one.

Fun fact, this is the story crafted for live-action Justice League movie, which then canceled. I don't know if I should be happy or sad about that considering the track record of DC movies starring Batman and Superman... or Flash.

Imagine WonderWoman's arm being torn apart like a mere doll, Cyborg dismembered like Lego. The heroes we deeply love and emotionally attached with are ripped limps to limps. Sliced in half, shred into pieces to point of no return right before our eyes. Yes, I am talking about Batman, Superman, Flash, Aqua Man, and the rest of DC heroes from the earth and beyond.
Back in 2013, Flash resets DC Universe by causing an historical event known as "Flash Point Paradox", one of DC's finest stories that gave birth to 'DC Animated Movie Universe' era. Apokolips War is ending that timeline and with it, ending the DC Animated Movie Universe, which consists of 15 movies of series made in the span of 7 years.

I think every single DC character ever appeared in those 15 DC animated movies, is in this final entry and only a handful of them lived to see a new day.

So what happened? Well, Darkseid happened. He is the big bad of DC Animated Universe and Superman decided to take the war to him before he came to claim the Earth. Which means the complete destruction of humanity. They went to war. Things went south, and not in a snap as Thanos did. Lucky one died quickly while others left to suffer indefinitely.

Batman, who always knew what to do, and always have a plan B, turned out to be the key player in conquering the universe but for the Darkseid. And also saving it from the evil god through a well-placed piece of domino in the form of my favorite John Constantine.

I am glad that this time Superman who usually gets mind-controlled by big villains, did not become a puppet. Not right away anyway because later in the story he got possessed so there's that.

Robin, who has been Batman's son for the last few years, Damian Wayne, first trained by most ruthless assassins and then by Batman, got the best emotional lines in the movie. I wanted to see a longer fight between Damian and his father, the Evil Batman. I loved how his story panned out until his end.

After superhuman heroes were brutally annihilated, the responsibility of saving the universe from new god, the Darkseid comes on to leftover heroes and supervillains. Lex Luthor, Suicide Squads, Titans, and a couple of magical beings faced Darkseid and his new shiny army only to meet their demise. This new shiny army will have guts-wrenching surprised for the fans.
Flash caused it, but he could not stop it. However, he did possess the power of starting the timeline all over again. And by doing that, everything we know would be gone. everything we love, would be changed. It could be a Rebirth.

This is the part of ending that I did not like much. I don't know how it happened in the books, but here in the animated movie, it looked great, it was beautiful to look at when it was happening when fresh sunlight was just washing out our warriors' sorrow.

But later, it felt - off.
