Swamp Thing - My First Impressions of DC Show
I have been waiting for Swamp Thing from DC. Although I don't know much of Swamp Thing but I know some of the very basics. In comics Swamp Thing is a big thing but it did not appear much in the DC's animated movies either. I obviously was excited to know more about the Swamp Thing through the new series.
DC sucks at cinema but they are absolutely rocking when it comes to TV series. Arrow, Flash, Constantine, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, and then they got really bold first with Gotham then Titans and Doom Patrol. Although this all could go down in drain with upcoming BatWoman.
They bring Crystal Reed back from Gotham. It was strange for me to see her playing an entirely different role within DC world considering she have been to Gotham.
But hey I am not at all complaining. I love her in Teen Wolf, I missed her in Teen Wolf when she decided to part ways. Let's see how badass of a woman she is in Swamp Thing.
DC decided to go dark supernatural horror with Swamp Thing. The series started slower than the other DC shows. Here they took their time in first episode to introduce not only characters but to build the chemistry in between them from the scratch. Luckily they did not spend too much time with those dramas. They kept it as part of suspense so yes it was slow paced but I was invested in it too.
DC made this new addition to their stream service a horror. Yes it is a dark horror show and it was shoot in that manner. This too made Swamp Thing from other DC series. First episode just hinted on things viewers should ready to watch in future episodes.
So how it did for my first episode test?
Yes, I like it, I love the atmosphere of series, the production quality is outstanding. There are 10 episodes so hope they will keep things interesting. From the first episode, I can tell the humor is on short supply compare to other DC shows. Even Titans got good fun lines but this may not be the case in Swamp Thing. Things are already tense from the first frame till end.
Now I have to wait till 3rd episode. But one thing is for sure that I will be watching full season of Swamp Thing.
