John Wick 3, Parabellum - My Thoughts
Do I still need to introduce who John Wick is? I didn't think so either. John Wick is on the run for his life in the city full of deadliest assassins in the 3rd chapter of the story of unstoppable and unkillable John Wick.
John is their best but he is not above the rules, said the High Table because that's what separates them from animals. He broke their rules and so now it is time for him to face the consequences of his actions. And action is all we get in the John Wick Parabellum.
The movie is over 2 hours long, full of extreme life ending sequences. There are no dull moments.
The emotional connection however I felt in last two John Wick movies is missing in the third. That connection which established in first movie was the reason audiences love and hooked on. That story made John's bloodful journey a special treat for action movie lovers.
I do understand why the emotion or story is on low supply this time and I am fine with it. It is continuum from the previous movie and time gap is to blame for not having that connection. This movie, the third of John Wick's movies is meant to be just non-stop thrilling action after action for fans to sit back, forget everything else and enjoy the ride.
Although we have beautiful Halle Berry playing a female version of John, but appearance of Mark Dacascos was more pleasing for me and almost surprising too. I am his big fan. I love his work.
I mean, look at him, he looks like someone coming straight out of comics. And it is pain to see him getting negative roles lately. At least in John Wick everyone is a villain and Mark got to play a really powerful villain. Fight between him and John was epic treat for me to sit through.

Another character that made me jump was the Tick Tock Man, played by Jason Mantzoukas and looks like he came directly from my favorite and a hit sitcom Brooklyn Nine Nine. Jason seems to be carrying the same persona, but the level of comedy toned down a lot.
We Brooklyn Nine Nine fans know the type of crazy he can bring on to screen when it comes to action and I am very excited to see that from him in next John Wick movie.

Halle Berry is a dog lover, she got two of them and they are not ordinary dogs. She turned them into weapons and when one of them was shot by her boss... she dropped a hell on entire organization, just her and her dogs and of course, Mr. John Wick helped here and there.
There are a few moments in the movie that I simply could not process. It cannot be a writing mistake because there are very obvious jumps and John Wick movies have not make that kind of mistakes so far.
I think there is a larger plot behind those instant switch in plot, or say change of John's heart. Those moments however did not affect the overall movie.
They traveled to cities, they kill by books, literally, they fought on horses, they fought on bikes, they did the Matrix thing, they went full on gun-gu, kung-fu and flashed their blades, all type of blades, big and small. The diversity of actions in John Wick 3 is insane.
They thought it was over in the end, but surprise surprise, it is going to be messier and I cannot wait for it.
